In the first elimination challenge, contestants were told to cook a dish using either Kumquats, Vegemite or Panettone, ingredients that were close to the judges' hearts and brought on fond memories of their childhood.

The first contestant to hang up their apron was 36-year-old Andrea after serving Nutella crepes that unfortunately didn't hit home.

Andrea told the camera that MasterChef had been "a pleasure" saying, "I can do anything now, this experience has made me so much stronger, it's unbelievable."

Jessica was the next contestant to leave the show, unfortunately, her attempt to create flourless pasta ended in disaster, which ultimately sent the 35-year-old optometrist packing.

Larissa Sewell

The 38-year-old mum from South Australia was next in line to make the journey home – her sweet choux, unfortunately, wasn't quite balanced enough to please the judges.

Luckily for Larissa, she had won the second chance apron a week prior and was safe for another round.

Larissa told cameras, "It's been a ride, cooking with and meeting these amazing people I've made friends for life... that's by far one of the biggest highlights," adding, "JOKES, I HAVE THE SECOND CHANCE APRON!"

But Larissa's luck had run out the week following her second chance she was sent home after becoming seriously flustered in the Lamington challenge.

Larissa laughed as she told the cameras a final goodbye: "My cup is full, I have no regrets. I'm really going this time."

Amy Tanner

The fourth contestant to say goodbye to the MasterChef kitchen was 26-year-old Amy Tanner.

Despite some ripper caramel dumplings earlier on the show, Amy fell flat with her "irredeemable" and "disappointing" tacos. Ouch.

Judge Jock Zonfrillo gave Amy some feedback which ultimately sent her on her way.

"We really wanted to like your tacos. But what we got was thick tortillas, dry meat, and a sauce that just didn't belong."

Alice Han

Next to hit the chopping block was chef Alice Han, who fell short during a Messina four-hour and 15-minute cook.

Unfortunately, her dense, icy gelato crowned her the fifth contested to leave the competition.

Robbie Cooper

The 65-year-old youth worker had stolen the hearts of everyone watching at home from the moment he stepped foot in the kitchen.

Originally from the Northern Territory, Robbie Cooper warmed the hearts and the stomachs of judges and fellow contestants with his Aboriginal Asian fusion cuisine.

In a heart-breaking eviction, Robbie was sent packing, making him the sixth contestant to leave the show.

Phil Conway

In this week's elimination, round we saw expert chef Rick Stein join the cast in a masterclass. Contestants were tasked with creating a calamari dish for the first round and while Phil Conway impressed the judges with his technical skills, his ability to come out on top fell short.

In the second round contestants were tasked with creating a dish inspired by Rick's extensive travel throughout his career, contestants were then asked to make a delicious dish that was both perfectly balanced and authentic to its home.

Unfortunately for Phil, his spaghetti con anatra wasn't enough to save him, making him the seventh contestant eliminated from the show.

Grace Jupp

A pressure test like no other had contestants trying to replicate the delicious and unique flavours of a traditional Pho.

In the first part of the challenge, contestants had to guess all the ingredients included in renowned chef Luke Nguyen's dish. Little did our amateur chefs know, there would be a secret ancient delicacy included in the broth – bull's penis.

Luke said this special ingredient "adds gelatinous texture to the broth and respects the ethos of eating the whole animal without waste."

Unfortunately for Grace, her execution fell short of the judge's high expectations. Grace has a heavy and cloudy broth that the judges said she had not skimmed properly, leaving it unpleasant and greasy.

Grace farewelled the remaining contestants with a teary goodbye making her the eighth contestant to exit the MasterChef kitchen.

Antonio Cruz Vaamonde

In a challenge fit for culinary kings the MasterChef kitchen saw legend Maggie Beer set a two-part test for the emerging cooks.

The contestants were given two ingredients, and an allotted 60 minutes on the clock to create a dish that would inspire the judges.

Antonio chose Kalamata olives in an ambitious attempt to create a delicious dessert out of the salty flavours.

Unfortunately for Antonio, it was his speedy pace in the kitchen that ultimately slowed him down. In attempts at creating a delicious caramel mille feuille, he produced a rough pastry that didn't puff and turned into more of a shortbread that couldn't be ignored.

It was a combination of fabulous dishes from his fellow contestants and an underwhelming pastry disaster that saw a proud Antonio sent home.

Ralph Kahango

For Chef Ralph, a dessert challenge was not what he was hoping for.

After deciding to keep things simple and create a delicious carrot cake that would knock the judge's socks off, Ralph, unfortunately, missed the mark.

Popping in the cake mix a tad too late, Ralph was sent packing due to the lack of attention to detail and poor execution.

Ralph said his heartfelt goodbyes and left the MasterChef kitchen for good.

Adi Nevgi

In a battle for a spot in the top eight, contestants underwent a two-part taste test with a twist.

Adi felt the pressure and lost precious time deciding what to make, eventually selecting kingfish sashimi with a Middle Eastern twist.

When it was finally time to plate up, Adi wasn't feeling the strongest, unfortunately, her instincts were correct, and the judges were disappointed by the unbalanced flavours and the overwhelming zhug sauce.

As a result of her poorly executed dish, the judges felt it was time to say goodbye and sent Aidi packing.

Adi said her farewells after Jock celebrated her understanding of cooking and cuisines.

Rue Mupedzi

Oh shucks! It seems as though last night's pressure test was too much for Rue, who was battling it out for a spot in the final five.

The cook was no easy feat, it involved 134 steps, set by none other than the three-time Michelin chef, Clare Smyth, and straight off her Oncore Sydney restaurant menu.

Unfortunately for Rue, given the finale is right around the corner, the competition now leaves very little room for mistakes. The judges felt as though Rue's wagyu was slightly under done and her sauce was just a bit too runny compared to her competition.

This meant the end of Rue's time on the show but likely just the beginning of her cooking career.

Malissa Fedele

We're officially on the last leg of our MasterChef journey and things have gotten really hot in the kitchen as contestants compete for their chance in the final.

Contestants had limited time and limited ingredients to make the most impressive dish to score a spot at the top.

Despite Malissa creating a delicious ice cream, with a perfect ganache, the judges all agreed that the dominant baking powder flavour left an unpleasant taste in their mouths, which ultimately led to her saying her emotional goodbyes.

Cath Collins

Last night Brent, Theo, Rhiannon, and Cath battled for their spot in finals week while Declan watched from the safety of the gantry. The elimination featured two rounds, starting with a 'dual duel' where pairs were randomly assigned to cook head-to-head. The winners of each duel secured their place in the top four.

Cath and Theo faced off by creating dishes featuring Dijon mustard, with Theo opting for a Dijon sauce paired with pan-fried kingfish and Cath choosing a trout dish basted in Dijon mustard.

After tasting the dishes in the first round, the judges favoured Theo's kingfish over Cath's trout, and Rhiannon's chicken impressed while Brent's pasta fell short.

With Rhiannon and Theo securing their place in the top four alongside Declan, Cath and Brent faced off in the second round. They were tasked with presenting their best dish of the competition, elevating it within 75 minutes.

Cath aimed to impress with a dessert consisting of wattle seed shortbread and chocolate parfait, but an oversight in refrigeration caused the parfait to melt. Meanwhile, Brent confidently prepared a chicken adobo skewer with charred corn and cucumber salsa, ensuring each element was executed flawlessly.

When the judges tasted Brent's dish, his perfectly cooked chicken and the smoky flavour added by the hibachi impressed them. While Cath held onto hope for her flavoursome dish, the judges agreed that the execution fell short.

The judges and fellow contestants were devastated to see Cath leave, recognising her hard work throughout the competition. Despite her departure, Cath left with immense pride, having made it to the top five of MasterChef Australia.

Theo Loizou

Last night we saw one of the most intense pressure tests the shows have seen so far, with none other than Peter Gilmore entering the kitchen to serve up a seriously difficult culinary battle, which would result in our final top three.

Unfortunately for Theo Loizou, the judges felt that he rushed his initial prep time which meant that his eggplant and seafood were slightly undercooked and at this stage of the game there really is no room for mistakes.

Theo said his goodbyes marking the final three contestants to battle it out for the title of MasterChef 2023.

Declan Cleary

In the final three cookoffs, Brent showcased his culinary style with a perfectly executed charred octopus entrée and a flavourful pork belly main course, earning him the title of the best main dish. The simple yet delicious toasted coconut ice cream dessert impressed the judges, despite being slightly on the sweeter side.

Rhiannon was impressed with a betel leaf scallop entrée and a lemongrass dessert while struggling with her main dish. Declan's ambitious menu fell short with a disappointing prawn toast entrée and overcooked curry in his main, but he showcased his skill with Choux pastry in his dessert.

Unfortunately, this meant that season favourite Declan finished in third place, leaving behind an inspiring culinary legacy and cementing our final top two.
