There are only 6 items you need to add to your wardrobe in 2024.

Now that we're well and truly into 2024, it's time to start thinking about your wardrobe - more specifically, what you should be adding to keep up with the trend cycle.

But with trends rapidly changing, it's important to differentiate between what's going to last till the end of time, and what's going to be hot for about a week before it ends up in the back of your closet.

2023 was a big year for fashion. Denim skirts were spotted after two decades, fishnet ballet flats were one way to solidify your cool status and thanks to Taylor Swift and her legion of fans, fully grown adults were wearing and exchanging friendship bracelets.

Now that we're in 2024, we're predicting trends to look slightly different. Clothes we wore years ago are going to make a comeback, and we're going to continue leaning into certain trends from last year.

So if you want to know how to get ahead of the curve, then keep reading, because this is what's going to be making the rounds in 2024.

Jumpsuits.

Nothing is more fuss-free than a jumpsuit. No more figuring out what top goes with what pants because it's all done for you. Image: Getty.

Jumpsuits are a style of clothing that we're welcoming with open arms this year. Are you telling us we don't need to figure out what top goes with what pants? And we can just throw on ONE thing and we're fully dressed? We'll take 10 please.

Jumpsuits have been spotted on multiple runways, with designers like Hermes, Saint Laurent and Carolina Herrera adding their own spin to the classic garment. If you're looking for comfort, then opt for a utilitarian style, otherwise try something that's more fitted at the waist and flares out at the end.

Maxi skirts have slowly been creeping back into style, but in 2024, it’s going to become a full-blown moment - especially the circle skirt. Going back to the runways at different Fashion Weeks around the world, voluminous skirts made a regular appearance, often being paired with plain t-shirts, fitted singlets and cropped tops. However you decide to wear them, just know that you’re going to be ahead of the curve.

2023 was all about "quiet luxury" and looking like you're from old money, and the polo shirt further leans into that. Take inspiration from brands like Ralph Lauren and Lacoste and get yourself a polo shirt. Wear it with straight-leg jeans or even a mini-skirt if you want to look more preppy.

Quiet luxury isn't going away anytime soon, in fact, we think more and more people are going to be seen trying out the trend because of just how versatile it is. The entire trend consists of pairing basic pieces together to create a look that appears to be more expensive than it actually is.

In 2023, it was all about simple dresses in structured silhouettes, but in 2024, the focus is going to be on casual wear. Polo shirts, linen pants and cable knit sweaters are going to dominate. Take a leaf out of Sofia Richie and Jasmine Tookes' book if you want further inspo.

There is nothing more chic than a pointed-toe kitten heel peaking out from underneath a pair of long trousers. This trend is continuing from 2023 and we don’t see it dying down anytime soon.

 Mod micro-mini dresses.

The '60s are back, and we couldn't be more excited. Image: Getty.

I've already seen at least five women wear a mod micro-mini dress in the last couple of weeks and every single one of them has looked spectacular. Mod micro minis were all the rage back in the '60s, and we get why. The length, fit and cut of the dress are flattering on everyone, and the boucle fabric gives the entire garment more of a luxe feel. Now all we need to do is heavily tease our hair and apply white eyeliner to our waterline.

Capri pants.

Designers are loving capri pants at the moment, making us believe that they're the next big thing. Image: Getty.

This one is … unexpected. It's been a while since capri pants were a thing, but it seems to making a comeback. Designers like Tory Burch and 3.1 Phillip Lim have been sending them out on their catwalks, often with an edgier, more loose-fitting top to balance the entire look out. Have a play around with fabrics, colours and prints to help keep things interesting.
