'Typewriter' is the horrifying new Netflix series that's leaving viewers unable to sleep.

If you get scared easily, it’s time to look away.

Netflix have released a brand new horror series and according to reactions, it’s… terrifying.

In fact, it’s apparently so scary, viewers are being left unable to sleep after watching it.

The five-part series, titled Typewriter, was released on the streaming platform on July 19, and has since been compared to everything from Stranger Things to The Haunting of Hill House.

Watch the official trailer for Netflix’s Typewriter below. Post continues after video.

Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the series, which is set in an Indian coastal town, follows three young friends who decide to visit a haunted house in the hopes of capturing a ghost. (Essentially it’s Stranger Things but without the ’80s nostalgia and Jim Hopper’s glorious moustache.)

The group of friends decided to visit the haunted house after hearing about the legend of Madhav Mathews – an author who mysteriously died of a heart attack in the house while writing his next book, The Ghost of Sultanpore.

As the story goes, Madhav Mathews was busy writing the novel when his granddaughter Jenny came in to tell him that there was a ghost underneath her bed.

But when Madhav looked under the bed, he discovered the real Jenny lying underneath.

Weirdly enough, when the group of kids set off to explore the haunted house, they soon learned that a now grown-up Jenny had moved back into the house with her husband and their two children.

Yep. It’s… creepy.

As expected, the main plot of the show revolves around a mysterious typewriter, which appears to harbour grudges (we know, weird) against anyone who attempts to remove it from the haunted house.

Here's what Netflix's official synopsis says:

"Typewriter is about a haunted house and a haunted book that stir the imagination of a group of young, wannabe ghost hunters, and a dog, determined to capture the ghost that plagues the notorious home in their neighbourhood in Goa.

"When a new family and their captivating daughter move into the haunted home, the crew finds it difficult to balance the demands of school and chores with the renewed urgency to capture the neighbourhood ghost before it is too late."

On Twitter, people have been raving about the series, with viewers describing it as "captivating" and "one of the best horror series ever".

Typewriter is streaming on Netflix now. We wouldn't recommend watching it alone.
