Hot cross buns are the second most exciting thing about Easter (obviously the easter eggs come first).
And there is a reason for that: they are seriously delicious. Fluffy bread with bits inside is a fantastic combo, no one’s arguing with that.
But which bits inside are best?

We reached out to followers of our Mamamia Instagram page and asked the important question, which hot cross bun rules supreme? Chocolate, traditional fruit or fruitless?
Fair warning: there is only one right answer.
3. Fruitless.

Sorry but honestly, who buys a fruitless hot cross bun? Isn't that just a bread roll with a cross on top? It's plain and unbelievably boring. Pass.
(Ok, we'll forgive you if you put some sort of spread inside but still... it comes in last place.)

Chocolate should be dead last. What an abomination. The correct ranking is traditional, fruitless, all those random hipster concoctions and then chocolate, way down the bottom.
Sultanas or raisins in any bread based product is simply the work of what is clearly an evil genius and I for one will not stand for it.
