These celebrity couples started with a cheating scandal.

Who knew a cheating scandal could spell the start of true love?  

But it happens. Love can be found in the most inconvenient of places, and while the lying and deceiving part should be regrettable, sometimes love simply prevails. 

Back in November 2022, US morning TV was rocked by one hell of a cheating scandal when it came out that Good Morning America anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were locked in an alleged secret affair. 

Photos surfaced of the work colleagues holding hands while they were both still married to their partners, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig.

It was a Big Deal. In the aftermath of the scandal, the network which aired their morning show announced in January 2023 that the pair would be leaving the show.  

And now almost a year on, the couple are not just still together and broken up with their spouses, they're taking their relationship to the next level by, err... launching a podcast.

"How's this for Instagram official?" the caption read, alongside an image of the couple cuddling. 

Robach and Homes have both maintained that they had already separated from their spouses when they got together.

"This was two consenting adults who were each separated. They both broke up with their spouses in August within weeks of each other," a source told People. "The relationship didn't start until after that."

But these two TV hosts are not the first celebrities whose relationship started with a cheating scandal. In fact, they're in fine company. 

We've rounded up some of the biggest celebrity couples that were rumoured to have begun as affairs.

The most famous cheating scandal in celebrity history needs no introduction, but I'll give you one anyway. Brad Pitt was married to America's sweetheart and Friends star, Jennifer Aniston, when he met Angelina Jolie on the set of action flick, Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005.

Some incriminating photos of Brad and Ange on holidays together quickly surfaced and the pop culture world imploded. Brad and Jen got a divorce while Brad and Ange dated for many years before finally getting married in 2014. 

However, the Hollywood couple have been in a messy legal battle ever since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.

Angelina Jolie met ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton on the set of the 1999 movie Pushing Tin and the pair married later that year. The small issue was that Thorton was already living with and engaged to actress, Laura Dern. 

“I left our home to work on a movie, and while I was away, my boyfriend got married, and I’ve never heard from him again,” Laura told Talk magazine in 2000.

"It's like a sudden death. For no one has there been any closure or clarity."

Ange and Billy got divorced after two years of marriage in 2002.

Second only to Brad and Ange in notoriety, who can go past the collapse of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' marriage over the royal's affair with Camilla Parker Bowles? 

Charles and Camilla's relationship began in the 1970s when they briefly dated. Despite splitting and marrying different people (will anyone think of Andrew Parker Bowles??), they were rumoured to have continued their romance. 

Diana confirmed the affair after the couple divorced in a 1995 Panorama interview with Martin Bashir. “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded," she famously said. 

Charles wrote in his biography that he only restarted a relationship with Camilla after his marriage to Diana had "irretrievably broken down".  

Diana tragically passed away in 1997 following a car accident in Paris. Charles and Camilla got married in 2005, but without Queen Elizabeth II in attendance.

It's hard to fathom that pop culture's most influential pairing might have resulted in a few broken hearts, but it's been reported that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's romance began while they both still entangled with other people. 

According to TMZ, Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband Kris Humphries claimed Kim cheated on him with Kanye. 

Kanye's ex-girlfriend Amber Rose also accused Kanye of cheating on her with Kim, and while the reality star was with Reggie Bush. 

“Kim is one of the main reasons why me and Kanye are not together,” Amber told Star magazine in 2012.

"She's a homewrecker! They were both cheating. They were both cheating on me and Reggie with each other." 

Kim and Kanye were married between 2014 to 2022.

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder have been married for over 20 years, but their union began while both parties were in different relationships. In Julia's case, she was dating actor Benjamin Bratt while Danny was married to Vera Steimberg. 

They met on the set of The Mexican in 2000 when Danny was working as a cameraman. Danny filed for divorce from Vera and two years after the paperwork was filed, Roberts wore a t-shirt emblazoned with the words "A Low Vera," which fans assumed was an attack on Vera for delaying their divorce to prevent her ex from getting remarried.

But luckily, Julia and Danny got married a few months after the t-shirt incident and have since welcomed three kids together: Finn, Hazel and Henry.

Tom was still dating actress Bridget Moynahan when he reportedly began his romance with supermodel Gisele Bündchen in 2006. To complicate matters further, Bridget announced she was pregnant with Tom's child in early 2007.

“Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant," Gisele wrote in her 2018 memoir. "The very next day, the news was everywhere and I felt my world had been turned upside down,”

Brady also reflected on the scandal. "That's not how you envisioned your life, that's not how you envisioned having children, but it happens," he told Details magazine in 2009. "But you're not talking about a tragic event. You're talking about a life." 

Tom and Gisele's relationship bounced back, and they got hitched 2009, and eventually had two kids together.

The attractive pairing filed for divorce in 2022.

Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith were once considered Hollywood's strongest couple but it turns out they were married to different people when they got together. They met and fell for each other on the set of Two Much in 1995 while Antonia was hitched to Ana Leza and Melanie to Don Johnson.

Both couples filed for divorce and Banderas and Griffith were married a month after their divorces were finalised in 1994. They welcomed their daughter, Stella, later that year. 

After 18 years of marriage, the longstanding couple filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" in 2014.
