"We want a big family." What Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo's family life looks like.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo are a couple whose names you may not recognise, but whose photos you probably will.

The Maroon 5 frontman and former Victoria's Secret model have been together for quite some years now, and have spoken openly about the highs and lows of parenting.

This week, Levine and Prinsloo announced that they are expecting their third child together, with Prinsloo previously saying she had always hoped for a big family.

Levine and Prinsloo were first linked back in 2012, when Maroon 5 was at a high fame point, and Prinsloo had recently become a certified 'Angel' for Victoria's Secret.

But by the next year, they had split, with Levine moving on with another model.

A couple of months later, Levine and Prinsloo were back on, with a source close to the couple telling Us Magazine: "He realised he really loved her and she was 'the one'. They are in love." By July 2013, the pair were engaged.

"She makes me the best person I can be," Levine said about his partner at the time. "She's the best in the world. It doesn't matter how certain you think you are. You still get down on that knee, and you get woozy, and you're like, 'I'm doing this, oh, my God'," he shared about the proposal.

A year later, they were married. The wedding took place in Mexico, with around 300 guests in attendance and Levine's longtime mate, actor Jonah Hill, serving as the marriage officiant. Levine and Prinsloo then went to South Africa for their honeymoon.

Levine later said marrying Prinsloo was the "best thing" he ever did.

"I never really thought I would adore it. It's so trippy. I'm a child. How did this happen? I use that word [wife] right now a lot. I say it for no reason. I say it a lot - 'Wife, wife, wife,' I love it. I even changed her number in my phone to 'wife'," he told Us Magazine.

By March 2016, Prinsloo and Levine announced they were expecting their first child. In September, they welcomed daughter Dusty Rose. By February 2018, they had a second child, daughter Gio Grace.

In that same year, Prinsloo told Us Magazine that being a parent has changed their lives completely.

Speaking about Levine's skills at fathering, she said: "He loves one-on-one time with them, so he takes Dusty to coffee every morning. He's a very hands-on dad. It's awesome. I'm lucky."

In the same interview, Prinsloo said she really wanted to expand their family in the future, adding a few more kids to the list.

"I think I eventually want it. I definitely would want to try for a boy, but if I have all girls, I'll be happy. I definitely want these two to grow up a little more and experience the two of them together before I do another one, but I think there are more in the future for sure."

She shared a similar sentiment at the end of last year, telling ET that she wants "five kids" in total.

"You know what, never say never. We want a big family, who knows, we're leaving it up to fate and just what happens."

Of course, parenting isn't all roses. In 2019, Prinsloo shared that she had struggled with postpartum depression following her first child's birth.

"I had moments of postpartum after our first baby that I felt like it was coming through. But my husband was so incredibly supportive and always got me out of it," she told Today

"I think it's very normal, though, as a young mum and a new mum to feel helpless and to feel overly emotional, you know. I think I got lucky not to have it to an extreme case, but you can see yourself spiralling."
