A UK woman had a chance encounter with Prince George, and he said his name was... Archie.

Today we learned two very important facts about Prince George.

First, he likes dogs (duh).

Second, he… calls himself Archie?

Yeah. We’re not sure if the five-year-old prince was having a laugh (not unusual tbh) or has just revealed a secret nickname/alter ego/imaginary friend.

It’s all very confusing.

According to The Sun, the mystery began while George was out with his grandmother Carole Middleton when a dog walker came across him playing with his younger sister Charlotte in a stream near the Middleton family home in Berkshire.

George went over to see the dog – as any sane person would.

The anonymous woman said police minders asked her not to take photos of the children, but she engaged in a bit of small talk with the prince as he revelled in the pure joy of patting a dog.

“I asked George what his name was, even thought obviously I knew it,” she said.

“To my astonishment he said ‘I’m called Archie’ with a big smile on his face. I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely.”

Okay… ArchieGeorge. Maybe he’s a Riverdale fan? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While this definitely uh, came out of left field, it’s not even the craziest of the prince’s nicknames.

When Kate Middleton was pregnant, Kate and Prince William referred to him as “our little grape”. Cute.

He’s known as PG at school – which is so smooth – but that’s led to his parents calling him PG Tips or just Tips. After a brand of tea. Is that the most British thing you’ve ever heard?
