The four words from Guy Pearce that stunned Andrew Denton.

Actor Guy Pearce has stunned Andrew Denton during the latest episode of Seven’s Interview, after opening up about his experience working alongside Kevin Spacey in the 1997 film L.A. Confidential.

In the interview, Andrew Denton asked the 50-year-old actor about his experience with Spacey, to which Pearce responded, “Tough one to talk about at the moment.”

“Amazing actor; incredible actor. Mmm. Slightly difficult time with Kevin, yeah”.

“He’s a handsy guy,” he continued after hesitation, to which the studio audience audibly gasped.

After a brief silence, Pearce shared that he is grateful he was 29 at the time and not 14, referring to actor Anthony Rapp who accused Kevin Spacey of sexual misconduct last year, alleging that Spacey made sexual advances towards him when he was only 14 years old.

The Kevin Spacey allegations span four decades and two continents, and demonstrate a very familiar pattern of abuse in the Me Too movement. The actor infamously used his homosexuality to justify his horrific abuse.

He used the closet as a veil of protection in two ways. Firstly, the young men he allegedly abused and harassed did not want to “out” him by coming forward with their allegations, and secondly, some of his victims were also fearful of being “outed” themselves if they went public with their claims.
