'He's 36 and he came after me.' Everything we know about Cher and her new boyfriend.

Do you believe in life after love? Because Cher is singing about her new love interest from the rooftops.

This week, the singer/actor confirmed that she is in a new relationship with 36-year-old music executive Alexander 'A.E.' Edwards. The two have been seen out together in the Los Angeles celebrity scene, with Cher saying she is officially in love with her new boyfriend.

But the response online wasn't all rosy, with some suggesting the 40-year age gap between the two is cause for concern.

A.E. is a music producer who owns the record label Gloryus, which has worked with a bunch of well-known artists including Tyga, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Kanye West.

He's also known for his highly publicised relationship with ex Amber Rose. The pair were together for a number of years before splitting a year ago. While together they welcomed a son Slash, who is now three.

According to Amber, the relationship fractured due to A.E.'s infidelity.

"I'm tired of getting cheated on and being embarrassed behind the scenes," Amber wrote in her Instagram Stories after the split. "All 12 of y'all bums (the ones that I know of there's probably more) can have him. Y'all very much knew he was in a relationship with a baby and y'all decided to f**k him anyway. I saw all the texts and DM's. Y'all were well aware but y'all don't owe me any loyalty so it's whatever."

Soon after Amber's comments, A.E. then confirmed the rumours, saying: "I woke up to this s**t, man… I thought, 'S**t, I got caught. I got caught before, you know what I'm saying? And she's just had enough, obviously. I love her, though. That's like my best friend, the mother of my son."

In a string of since-deleted tweets, Cher said she and her new boyfriend are in love. 

She wrote: "Love doesn't know math, it sees. As we all know, I wasn't born yesterday and what I know for sure – there are no guarantees. Anytime you make a choice you take a chance. I've always taken chances. It's who I am."

She also shared a close-up photo of A.E.'s face, writing, "Alexander" as the caption with a heart emoji.

A fan wrote a tweet in response saying: "It would be naïve not to question a 34-year-old's motives and intentions. Our girl is smart but they don't say love is blind for no reason at all."

And Cher replied: "Haven't you got anything else to do? Let me explain... I don't give a f**k what anyone thinks."

Replying to fans, Cher explained that A.E. has been treating her "like a queen", saying their 40-year age difference hasn't impacted them yet. She also said that "everyone in my family has" met him. The two first met at Paris Fashion Week back in September.

Just this week she replied to a fan on Twitter, saying A.E.'s best qualities are that he is "kind, smart and hilarious: and that they "kiss like teenagers".

"He's 36 and in end, he came after me. I'm the skittish one. We love each other…. LADIES NEVER GIVE UP. Must say he was different for me. On paper, this looks strange (even to ME). We're happy," she said. "Everything is not perfect in my life, but I'm very lucky. Some things are very good. Some not so much."

And responding to another fan, she wrote (in all caps): "I DON’T GIVE MEN QUALITIES THEY DON’T POSSESS. IT’S A RECIPE 4 DISASTER. HE’S ‘NOT’ HIS TATS, HAIR COLOR [sic], DIMOND GRILL. LOVE ️HIM BECAUSE HE WASN’T AFRAID. HE’S KIND, HILARIOUS, SMART, TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL. WE TALK & LAUGH. WE R PERFECTLY MATCHED. DO I WISH I WAS YOUNGER, YAH, I’M NOT BOO FKN HOO."

Cher has had a number of high-profile partners over the years.

She was first married to American musician and politician Salvatore 'Sonny' Bono from 1964 to 1975, the pair having one child together – Chaz Bono. They were famous as a couple as well, as they were American pop duo Sonny & Cher who often sang together throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

Reflecting on their love, Cher said: "I'll never forget the first time I saw Son. It was at a restaurant called Aldo's. You know in West Side Story when Tony and Maria meet? It was like that. Everybody kind of went into soft focus, and there was Sonny."

But it wasn't meant to last, with the pair splitting in 1975, Cher saying it was due to Sonny's infidelity and being a "huge womaniser". 

"One woman, or even five, was not enough for him… I asked him, 'How did you manage the logistics?' I was trusting and faithful with him. I'm not sure we should've ever been husband and wife," she said to Parade.

Despite the marriage ending, the pair continued to stay in good contact, with Cher delivering the eulogy at Sonny's funeral. He passed away in 1998 after being involved in an unfortunate skiing accident. 

She said he was "the most unforgettable character I ever met".

A few days after finalising her first divorce, Cher then married musician Gregg Allman in 1975. The union however did not last, with Cher ending the marriage ten days after the wedding due to Gregg's drug and alcohol addiction. But while together, Cher and Gregg did have a son – Elijah Blue Allman.

Reflecting on the relationship, Cher said she initially had given Gregg a second chance following their first date – when he had passed out in the restaurant's toilets after shooting up heroin. But into the marriage, the drug use continued, which Cher said was a deal-breaker for her.

During a press interview, while they were married (for the ten days), Cher said: "Gregory has stopped drinking and has stopped doing any kind of drugs... I've always loved Gregory, but until now, I never felt it was going to last. For the first time I feel like married people." 

As for Gregg, he said about his time with Cher to Rolling Stone: "We had our good times, we had our bad times. We were just different in a whole bunch of ways. I was really glad that she never asked me what I thought of her singing, because I'm sorry, but she’s not a very good singer."

By 1979, Cher and KISS frontman Gene Simmons were an item. 

Simmons said at the time: "I'm crazy about Cher, nuts about her. She's my first love. Cher's an untainted soul who has never done anything bad to anybody."

Later on in life, Cher said her time with Gene was "the best relationship I've ever had with a human being".

Their time together was cut short though, when at the end of 1979, Cher told Gene to go shopping with her best friend to buy a Christmas gift for Cher. And her best friend happened to be Diana Ross. Gene and Diana soon started dating, and that meant the end of Cher and Gene's relationship.

Her next high-profile boyfriend was none other than Tom Cruise. They were together in the mid-80s – she was 39 and he was 23 at the time.

"He wasn't a Scientologist then... It was pretty hot and heavy for a little minute," she said to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. "He's a great guy. The person that I knew was a great and lovable guy. He was in the top five [of her best lovers]. He was so wonderful."

The next major man in Cher's life was Robert Camilletti.

They met in the 1980s, with Robert being an actor.

The couple also had a decent age gap, with Cher 40 and Robert 22 at the time. He was notably Cher's date for the 1988 Oscars when she took home the Best Actress statue for her performance in Moonstruck. 

And over the next couple of decades, Cher's kept her love life relatively hidden from the spotlight. That is until now, with new boyfriend A.E.

Recently, Cher had said she has always been on the lookout for a lasting relationship. 

"I'm still on the lookout. The problem I have with all the boyfriends lately is that I don't want to go any place with them because you can't keep a relationship going in this kind of goldfish bowl, where everything you do and every picture you have taken will be on Instagram. There's no way to keep something… special."
