real life

Would you marry a man who proposed like this?

Marry Me.

Wedding proposals are officially out of control.

Get this. In the latest episode of Ridiculous Public Wedding Proposals that should only exist in movies directed by Steven Spielberg-Richard Curtis hybrids, a Russian man faked his own death before springing to life and proposing to his (grieving) girlfriend.

Alexey Bykov hired a stuntman, a makeup artist and a filmmaker, then faked his death in a car crash. He said he did it because he “ wanted her to realise how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me.”

UK press reports:

The 30-year-old then planned for girlfriend Irena Kolokov to meet him at the crash site so she would be convinced he was dead.

Irena said: “We’d arranged to meet at a certain place but when I arrived there were mangled cars everywhere, ambulances, smoke, and carnage.”

“Then when I saw Alexey covered in blood lying in the road, a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears.”

But then “dead” Alexey climbed to his feet and proposed to Irena – still covered in fake blood.

His girlfriend was a little more forgiving than we’d be. After the proposal – which she accepted FYI – she said: “I was so cross … I almost killed him again, but for real this time.”

And here we were thinking a public rendition of Bruno Mars’ engagement anthem was the ultimate sign of love….

We will get to it as soon as we can (we’re aiming for close to real time) and so long as it doesn’t breach our comment guidelines, it shall appear. Thanks for playing.
