Will Ferrell has been hospitalised following a car crash in California.

Will Ferrell, 50, was involved in a serious car accident while travelling to Los Angeles from San Diego, after hosting a voter registration event on Thursday night.

The car – which was being driven by Ferrell’s longtime driver, Mark Thompson – was struck by another vehicle, causing it to flip.

Ferrell was admitted to an Orange County hospital, but was “unhurt”, according to a statement released by the actor’s reps.

His driver and another passenger are still in hospital, but are reportedly in stable conditions.

“[Ferrell is] staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them,” continued the statement, as reported by CNN.

According to the accident report, Ferrell’s SUV was hit by another car veering into their lane. The SUV then struck the median barrier and  flipped.

Earlier in the evening, Ferrell had dressed as his Anchorman character, Ron Burgundy, to host the Glam Up the Midterms alongside Billy Eichner.

He was returning home following the event when the accident occurred.

“[Ferrell is] grateful for all the well wishes he and his friends are receiving,” continued the statement.
