The Beep Test (cue: shivers). It was rolled out in high school PE classes as a certified method of torture way to monitor your physical progress through the school term.
Spare a thought for its most recent victims: the contestants on Tuesday night’s episode of The Biggest Loser Transformed.
One small, tape-recorded beep was enough to bring them all undone, and we were right there alongside them. Every. Goddamn. Beep. Of. The. Way.
See... it's tricky. You start off slow, not caring. Promising yourself you'll go easy on the first one, so you'll be better at the end of term.

Haha - I don't remember doing the dreaded beep test but my children DESPISE it & they run/jog for fun.
We only ever did the beep test at the beginning of each year. Let me tell you, it was the least of my PE-related trauma (and I have a lot of it)! I never cared about it and seeing we were only really competing against ourselves, no one else cared about how I was doing either. Everyone was focused on their own thing, so mockery was limited. I would have done 1000 beep tests if it had meant I never had to participate in any team sports or attempt gymnastics. Those were always far, far worse.
