Robert Downey Junior’s 20-year-old son, Indio Downey, has been arrested on drug charges.
According to TMZ, he was busted smoking coke in a pipe sitting in the passenger seat of a car cruising LA. His famous dad has thanked the officers who apprehended him, and acknowledged that his own history with drug addiction may have been a factor here.
Robert Downey Junior has released this statement about the incident:
“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it.
There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being.
We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”
Robert Downey Jr was arrested in 2001 on drug charges, went to rehab, and became infamous as one of Hollywood’s baddest bad boys.
This isn’t the first time Indio has had problems with drugs, either. Last year, he sought help for a pain killer addiction and went to rehab.

I know it's a fact, but I feel his father is handing him an excuse on a platter, with the comment:
“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it."
Hope he comes out the other side alright.
But it does sound like he's using his experience to help his son, which is a good thing, right?
