There is light at the end of the Offspring tunnel.
Asher Keddie says so.
On Friday we reported that John Edwards (co-creator of Offspring, NOT John Edward who speaks to dead people… confusing) reportedly told The Guardian Australia: “I am going to shatter all of your Nina-Leo dreams because the Proudmans are NOT coming back, guys. NO WAY.”
Okay, he didn’t say that. But the Guardian did have him saying this:
Endemol’s head of drama, John Edwards, the co-creator of Offspring, confirmed to Guardian Australia the much-loved series would not be coming back.
Edwards is on the publicity trail for Party Tricks, his new series for Ten, also starring the Gold Logie-winning Keddie. Party Tricks, a star vehicle for Keddie and Rodger Corser, premieres on Ten on Monday night.
“We’re very busy with Gallipoli and another secret project,” Edwards said. “We’re developing scripts for Party Tricks and we’re well under way with the second series.”
That cut deep.
BUT it looks like we panicked too soon.
NINA PROUDMAN HERSELF has given us hope.
Asher Keddie (who plays the love of our lives, Nina) and Roger Corser were on Mix 101.1 Chrissie and Jane for Breakfast this morning, chatting to Chrissie and Jane about their new show Party Tricks (premieres tonight, prepare the popcorn and set the VCR).
Chrissie asked about all the recent reports re: end of Offspring and Asher said:
“Absolutely nothing has changed. That was a very strange report. John never said anything of the sort. Nothing has changed, there’s still a conversation going on and that’s all I know.”
OUR HEARTS CAN’T EVEN DEAL.
Stop messing with us, Offspring bosses. The last episode of Season 5 may have been a perfect ending… but we miss the Proudmans, dammit.
We have all of our appendages crossed.
