The creators of Offspring finally respond to those rumours about season 6.

It’s might be over, you guys.

The creators of Offspring say that Season 5 of Offspring was the last and that the hit show won’t be returning in 2015.

No more Proudmans, no more Martin Clegg, no more scenes with the most beautiful baby in the world, no more beautiful Billie and Nina moments…

This from The Guardian Australia:

Endemol’s head of drama, John Edwards, the co-creator of Offspring, confirmed to Guardian Australia the much-loved series would not be coming back.

Edwards is on the publicity trail for Party Tricks, his new series for Ten, also starring the Gold Logie-winning Keddie. Party Tricks, a star vehicle for Keddie and Rodger Corser, premieres on Ten on Monday night.

“We’re very busy with Gallipoli and another secret project,” Edwards said. “We’re developing scripts for Party Tricks and we’re well under way with the second series.”

UPDATING: Since The Guardian story was published this morning, Channel 10 has responded with their own statement. And they seem to think it’s not over.

A Channel Ten spokesperson told Mamamia:

John Edwards did not say Offspring would not be coming back. He was asked if it was returning, and he said to the reporter, “Never say never”.

A comment from Beverley McGarvey, Chief Programming Officer, Network Ten: “We want Offspring to return in 2015. We are in discussions with the producers and they are, in turn, in discussions with the key creatives and cast.”

There is still hope. We’re crossing all our fingers and toes.

But in the meantime, let’s reminisce, shall we?

With our favourite moments of Season 5.

And our favourite moments of all seasons.

Were you an Offspring fan? Are you sad it’s over?
