How Married at First Sight's Zoe and Alex made their reality TV relationship work in real life.

The last few months have seen the breakup of many reality TV relationships, including The Bachelorette‘s Sam Frost and Sasha Mielczarek.

But before we all sob into our Ben and Jerry’s proclaiming “Love is dead”, there’s one enduring TV couple proving otherwise.

Zoe Hendrix and Alex Garner appeared on the first season of Married at First Sight in 2015. In November last year, they welcomed their first child Harper-Rose.

This morning, the pair appeared on the Today Show to share the secret to making a TV relationship work in real life.

“We clicked on so many levels and you know what, we really gave each other a shot. We took the time to get to know each other and we didn’t work out at the start, to be honest with you,” Garner said.

“I think we did have problems and I didn’t think we were going to work out.”

“We have so much fun together and I think at the end of it, you want to be with someone who makes you laugh and you have a lot of fun with, not just the boring, serious relationship stuff. We’re just really good friends as well as being [partners],” added Hendrix.

“Aw, darling!” responded Garner.

Yep, definitely well and truly still in love.

On the one year anniversary of their first meeting at the altar, Garner reflected on how nervous and unsure he was initially about their match.

“When I first met her, I definitely thought the experts had got it wrong. She wasn’t looking at me, I just thought ‘This girl doesn’t really care about what we’re doing here. She’s on here for the wrong reasons’,” he told Channel Nine.

“I remember thinking to myself, ‘You’re just going to have to get through this from A to B’ and then, my God, how it changed.”

The couple, who regularly share their life with fans on social media, revealed in 2015 they’d suffered a miscarriage.

“Zoe fell pregnant and we didn’t want to say anything because we hadn’t reached that 12-13 week mark,” Garner told A Current Affair in June 2015.

“It was the best news I’ve ever heard to be frank, I couldn’t wait to share it with the rest of Australia. But unfortunately, Zoe had a miscarriage – so it didn’t work out the way we were planning.”

In happier news, the pair welcomed their first child Harper-Rose in November. Image: Instagram.

While the pair are the only couple from their season to remain together, they have high hopes for the upcoming couples.

"Getting excited for the new season of Married at First Sight Australia and crossing fingers more couples find love," they wrote on Instagram.
