Turia Pitt is one inspiring lady, and as a new mum, she continues to be an absolute legend.
The 30-year-old shared a photo of herself and her three-month-old son Hakavai on Instagram on Thursday, and admitted like a lot of first-time mums, she’s had her share of tough days.
But Turia said that coping all has to do with your frame of mind and how you view things.
“My latest mindset hack: swap ‘I have to’ with ‘I get to’,” she wrote.
“So, for example when I get woken up by Hakavai, instead of thinking ‘I have to go and feed Hakavai’ I think ‘I get to go and feed Hakavai!’. It’s a simple mindset shift that reminds me how lucky I am to have a healthy little boy.”
My latest mindset hack: swap “I have to” with “I get to”. So, for example when I get woken up by Hakavai, instead of thinking “I have to go and feed Hakavai” I think “I get to go and feed Hakavai!”. It’s a simple mindset shift that reminds me how lucky I am to have a healthy little boy. More on this, and how you can use it to change your mindset, in today’s letter. Something so simple, and yet so helpful.
Turia said it was a tip she actually got from model and mum Megan Gale, 42. She says it has helped her a lot as she adjusts to life as a new mum. But it can be even more far-reaching than motherhood.
“I reckon it can help anyone change the way they see just about any situation,” she wrote on her blog.
So the next time you wake up not wanting to go to work, just tell yourself, “I get to go to work today!”
Okay, that one might not work quite as well, but it’s still stellar advice.
