A rumour involving the Queen and "Malibu Barbie": Why everyone is talking about Trisha Paytas.

Trisha Paytas is one of the original YouTubers.

Launching her channel in 2007, Paytas, now 34, has accumulated close to five million followers on the platform and more than seven million on TikTok, by posting vlogs, telling stories about her life, and creating "mukbang" videos, where she eats food and talks to camera.

She's also appeared on various TV shows, Ellen DeGeneres, Dr Phil and Celebrity Big Brother, in music videos for celebrities including Eminem, and been at the centre of online controversy many times.

After years of fertility issues, Paytas gave birth to her first child with her husband, Moses Hacmon, this week.

The YouTuber confirmed the news on Friday, sharing photos and videos of their daughter on social media. She also announced the name they chose for her.

"She has arrived," Paytas wrote on Instagram.

"Meet our daughter, Malibu Barbie Paytas-Hacmon, born 09.14.22."

A week before giving birth, Paytas' name was trending online.

There was a wild rumour circulating that she had already given birth, and her baby was a "reincarnation" of Queen Elizabeth II.

Let us explain.

On September 7, Paytas said that she was one centimetre dilated. The following day, the news of Queen Elizabeth II's passing was announced.

Twitter connected the dots and began joking that the baby Paytas gave birth to was the Queen reincarnated.

Yep.

The social media influencer then set the rumours straight, addressing them in a TikTok video.

"This was attention I did not want," she began, noting that she had been trying to stay out of drama when she saw her name trending online. "It just felt really weird to say anything about anything, for a number of reasons."

"There was a great tragedy. I'm a millennial, so it felt weird that people were memeing this death," she continued.

"I just didn't say anything to make it about me and I'm sorry to the Royal Family... the Queen is not reincarnated as my baby."

Paytas, 34, has been candid in the past about her fertility struggles.

She's previously spoken about how prior to working in social media, she was a sex worker (the YouTuber is also on OnlyFans).

"It is no secret that I used to work in the sex industry and I always say that I suffer greatly from it," she said in a video at the time.

"I've had lots of unprotected sex in my life. And I don't say that to boast; I say that as a word of caution that what happened to me is something that could happen to anyone."

Paytas explained she had contracted chlamydia when working in the industry, and although she got it treated, she got it for the second time years later.

While she got it treated again, she was diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

"With my PID, the chances of ever having children are basically zero," she said.

"I'll just tell you guys now, I know that it's not in the cards for me."

In her February pregnancy announcement, Paytas said she was experiencing the "most peace that [she's] ever felt".

"I'm in disbelief in so many ways but at the same time it just feels right," Paytas said.

"All of a sudden I just feel a sense of purpose."
