Tim Bliefnick joked about regretting marrying his wife on a TV gameshow. Then he killed her.

In 2020, a man from Illinois in America appeared on television and told an audience of millions that his biggest regret was marrying his wife

Standing beside family members as a contestant on Family Feud, Timothy Blienfnick, a father to three young boys, sparked anger over his confession

“What’s your biggest mistake you made at your wedding,” the host Steve Harvey asked him.

“Honey, I love you,” Blienfnick declared while grimacing, “but, said ‘I do’.

"Not my mistake, not my mistake, I love my wife. I’m going to get in trouble for that, aren’t I?”

In February 2023, a year after the episode aired, the couple had filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage, and were going through proceedings when Rebecca ‘Becky’ Bliefnick was brutally murdered.

Her husband has now been convicted of first-degree murder.

Wife’s father found her body was 14 gunshot wounds.

It was Becky’s family who first raised the alarm when the mother of three failed to pick her three boys up from school.

After Becky’s father, William Postle, received a text message from Bliefnick asking him to check if Becky planned to collect the kids, he drove to her home in Quincy to find the front door open.

Inside the bathroom upstairs he discovered his daughter's body. She had been shot 14 times.

According to reports, shell casings found near Becky’s body matched shell casings found in Bliefnick’s basement, while his DNA was also found at the crime scene. But despite this, he wasn’t arrested until 20 days later.

Bliefnick has always denied any involvement in his wife’s murder, pleading not guilty at his trial in March. But the prosecution unveiled the father’s recent internet search history which included ‘how to wash off gunpowder’, ‘average police response times’, and ‘how to open a door with a crowbar’.

After the defence failed to present any evidence, the jury deliberated for four hours before returning a guilty verdict.

Bliefnick will now be sentenced in August and faces between 45 years to life in prison.

Ominous text.

Court papers show that before Becky — a registered nurse — was tragically killed in February, she’d filed a restraining order against her ex and his father. In retaliation, Bliefnick has also ordered a restraining order against his wife.

While at one point, Bliefnick had told 41-year-old Becky that “she would not get his money”, amid a settlement that would see the father of three pay $3,819 in child support each month.

During the trial, Becky’s sister, Sarah Reilley, told jurors that Becky had wanted to stay married to Bliefnick to keep their family together, but she’d become afraid for her life in the months before her death.

Sarah pointed to a text from Becky in 2021.

“If something ever happens to me, make sure the number one person of interest is Tim,” the mother of three had written. “I am putting this in writing that I’m fearful he will somehow harm me."
