How do you improve on something wonderful? By smooshing it together with something equally as wonderful, obviously.
Like a cronut (that’s a donut plus a croissant for the uninitiated) or those nutella-flavoured milkshakes you drink through a straw threaded through, um, a donut (how good are donuts though?).
This leads me to my next question, how can you improve on the perfection that is Meryl “best actress of her generation” Streep?
By putting her on a pizza. Duh.
The ‘Taste of Meryl’ Instagram account is the latest accolade for the three-time Oscar winner to add to her ever-growing list of achievements.
She’s played Margaret Thatcher, Emmeline Pankhurst, the incomparable Mrs Fox in Fantastic Mr Fox and now she’s appearing on a social media account near you, hilariously merged with your favourite foods.
She looks a million bucks on top of avocado toast (seriously though, those things cost a million bucks these days) and saucy as in a box of chippies.
We asked the creator of the site how she came up with the GENIUS idea of meshing Meryl with tasty treats. Here’s what she had to say:
It just sort of happened one afternoon messing around on photoshop. I don’t even remember why, but I took this great pink photo of her in She-Devil and put it on a strawberry frosted doughnut. Two things adored by millions, Meryl Streep and food. It wasn’t until a few months later that I actually started the account, and I sort of woke up one morning and just decided to do it.
And her inspiration? Off all the actresses in the world, why Meryl?
I guess my inspiration stems from the two things that I am the most passionate about in life, the art of acting and food. There are so many great actors that I admire, and I could go on for reams about each one. But come on, Meryl Streep tops everyone’s list. And in addition to her incredible performances, her fundamentals of what it takes to be an actor really resonate with me. From what I’ve seen in interviews, she has a killer sense of humor and a love of life. No apologies for who she is, and honestly, I think she seems unbelievably cool. Pair that with food, and you’ve got one stellar combo.
I leave you with a quote her acceptance speech for Best Actress at the 2010 Critics Choice awards, “I really love what I do, I love acting. And I love to work. And I love food, and I love sex.” literal #goals
Holy cannoli. Meryl is fabulous. And so is this Instagram.
Take a look.
