At 20 years old, Selena Gomez is taking her career very seriously — and her relationship with 18-year-old pop sensation Justin Bieber, less so.
"It's really fun. I'm lucky," Gomez said in an interview with Teen Vogue, when asked about being part of Hollywood's hottest young couple.
However, Gomez was quick to add that "I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously."
"I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically," the singer-actress explained.
That means she's not in a rush to race down the aisle, unlike some other starlets her age (including fellow former Disney star Miley Cyrus).
"Marriage and all that other stuff I think will happen once I feel accomplished in every other aspect of my life," Gomez declared.
Right now, the former lead singer of The Scene is focused on moving past her teen-idol image. She hopes that the three movies she's made this year (including the indie crime drama Spring Breakers, costarring James Franco) will help audiences see her in a new light.
"It's frustrating whenever I want the roles that no one's even thinking about me for, and being like, 'No,' with all these other ones," she confessed to the magazine. "Being part of the Disney Channel was such a blessing, and I'm super happy with what my show accomplished, but acting is something I would like to take on more seriously."
"I don't necessarily feel accomplished," she continued. "I want to create a whole different persona when it comes to acting."
"Monte Carlo was a good step for me at the time," she said of her 2011 coming-of-age movie. "But I would never want to do something like that again."
