@millie1986 I think it’s commendable to share the experience of post-adoption depression (or any of the challenges associated with adoption and family integration - it’s a very interesting topic!)

but I, and many other commenters, disagreed with the full disclosure of the child’s details.  The author doesn’t need to share her child’s name, sensitive details of his origin, health conditions and unblurred photos of the child in order to share her own story.  There’s no shame in her story, but it’s shameful that she hasn’t considered his right to privacy and how her disclosure could potentially harm him.

This is galling.  This woman is committed to victimising herself and unable/unwilling to hear what people are telling her. Jonica, you are putting your child (that you claim to love and care for) at risk - physically and emotionally. You are prioritising money and your ego over your children.  Mamamia needs to stop platforming information that identifies children in this way.

@cicchis0  actually, there’s all kinds of inconsistencies and oddities weight and obesity data.  Modern science is so set on the conclusion that fat = bad and thin = good that they’ve deemed the well known fact that kinda fat people live longer “The Obesity Paradox.”  It’s not a paradox - we just don’t know as much as we pretend we do.   There’s a great podcast called Maintenance Phase that really analyses the research behind “common knowledge” and I’ve found it really insightful.

As it relates to Lizzo (even though I really don’t see how focussing on other peoples bodies improve our own individual lives), she’s healthy enough to dance energetically for hours on stage.  She’s healthy enough to (outside twitter) enjoy her life.  Why do you get to decide that she’s unhealthy because you don’t like what she looks like?  Turn the other way.  It’s a big world and there are plenty of skinny people to look at if that’s your preference.
