@snorks no, it isn't a fact, it's your opinion on her own experiences!!!! You imply that she shouldn't worry about it, when it's her experience and the experience of many other women!!!
I might claim a fact, then. This is mansplaining. That is now a fact, not just my opinion on your opinion!!!!!

draculasgirlfriend April 13, 2022

@snorks your comment implies it!!!!! And what facts??????

draculasgirlfriend April 12, 2022

Britney is a strong, awesome lady who has been through alot!!!! I wish her all the best in being a mother again!!

draculasgirlfriend April 12, 2022

@snorks Abortion laws like this show that lawmakers don't care about women, miscarriage or not!!!!!!!!!

draculasgirlfriend April 12, 2022

@snorks LOL!!!!!!!!!!! What facts? Facts. That's classic!!!!!!!! I see a man mansplaining how a woman should feel about her vagina based on exposure to porn which has been shown to give young people, especially women, a distorted view of their bodies.

draculasgirlfriend April 11, 2022

@snorks I don't think so. It's obvious with laws like this that officials place a fetus's life above that of women's!!

@snorks They get more than aged care workers!!! So do the maintenance workers in aged care homes. And they have less duty of care and responsibilities and, in some cases, less training and education!!!!!!! That is part of the issue with the gender pay gap. Aged care is not valued, because it is seen as women's work. IT and Maintenance are male-dominated roles and seen as more important so they pay more! Even though without the carers, the whole operation shuts down. So it could be argued that carers aren't a "cost centre", because without us, the Aged Care facility cannot make any money. They need carers to take care of the clients who pay handsomely to be there!!

I am an aged care worker. I know what we do, I know what we are worth and I know that $23 an hour is terribly inadequate for what we do, considering others who work in the same facility are getting so much more an hour without the same level of responsibility, the toll on our bodies and duty of care! And the profits made, they could pay us heaps more and still make heaps!!!! (and so does Labor! Vote Red!!!!!!!!!)

draculasgirlfriend April 11, 2022

@snorks Are you a man?

draculasgirlfriend April 11, 2022

@mamamia-user-482898552 Not always.

draculasgirlfriend April 10, 2022

I've decided. I've also decided that I am putting the Libs last!!!!

draculasgirlfriend April 10, 2022

You're what they would have called a man a "confirmed bachelor".

draculasgirlfriend April 10, 2022

@random dude It's not low paid. Not like carers.

draculasgirlfriend April 10, 2022

@snorks "IT and maintenance are low paid because they are cost centres" they are better paid than carers in aged care homes. IT is quite well paid in a lot of cases and there is scope to move up and make more. No matter the responsibility or skill level of the aged carer, there is very little scope to move up in pay scales, even though workers might have studied for several years or been given more responsibility, like running a day centre!!  It's not an argument that suggests why they don't earn as much when what maintenance and IT workers make in comparison is considered!!!
I don't think you are on top of it. You don't seem to know much about the aged care industry!! And, it's a lot more complex than the excuses you are giving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Many people already can't afford child care, you're going to ask them to pay a lot more? " these centres make huge profits, there is a way to pay people for their labour without increasing costs for the user. It's also not an argument against paying people properly for their labour and responsibility. Obviously, the entire industry needs an overhaul!!!!!!

@simple simon I work 30 hours a week and I'm on 70K a year. Depends on your role and qualifications.

draculasgirlfriend April 5, 2022

@snorks lol, I think their point is that the system works in a way that doesn't work very well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

draculasgirlfriend April 5, 2022

@mamamia-user-482898552 Good to know it's being recognised at a professional level!!!!

@snorks I have several friends who were refused tubal ligation over and over again, one into her 30s (and she had 3 kids)!!!! There are plenty of doctors who won't perform a tubal ligation on women under 30. I think it's one of those things that you need to listen to personal accounts of women who have experienced this
Here is an article from Canada https://www.chatelaine.com/health/canada-tubal-ligation/

from Australia https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/its-unfair-queensland-woman-fights-for-the-right-to-control-her-body-as-doctors-refuse-sterilisation-procedure/news-story/5c382497f8a2ec40378ecedb4af07a02

Same lady in Australiahttps://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-07-21/pregnant-mother-of-two-too-young-to-be-sterilised/7649556

Another article about the reasons behind refusal: https://www.bustle.com/p/can-doctors-refuse-tubal-ligation-heres-why-its-hard-to-get-one-to-tie-your-tubes-19233587

From the USA https://slate.com/human-interest/2012/07/getting-your-tubes-tied-why-do-young-women-have-a-hard-time-getting-sterilized.html

Obviously, this is a complex situation and sometimes women might need some extra counseling before undertaking this sort of fairly permanent procedure in their 20s, but there are plenty of accounts of women being refused for what amount to paternalistic reasons.

@snorks Huh? Is it like that? Where did you get that from?

draculasgirlfriend March 17, 2022

When something like this is done to you, it makes you feel sick and scared. I think it's really upsetting that there are people in our communities who think this is a fun way to spend time!

draculasgirlfriend March 17, 2022

I think the Liberals/Nationals have had enough time now to show what they can do, which seems to be nothing of merit!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I'll be giving my vote to any Liberal/National party members. We need to be doing something about government corruption, climate change and the cost of living and I don't think the LNP will ever be able to deliver on that!!
