I was wearing a watch whilst going through a security screening scanner at Gold Coast airport this week. The scanner clearly showed an object around my wrist. My watch could clearly be seen and matched the scan picture. And yet they wanted to pat down my arm. Not anywhere near as uncomfortable as the comments below, however, it was bizarre. I’m unclear how wearing a watch (a pretty standard item) requires me to be physically handled at a screening point.
A tough situation, but from experiences a chance to look at whole different areas of work. In my situation I made the change from corporate life (multi nationals and ASX Top 50 entities) to not-for-profits. I used my skills but in an environment that is value based and with - fortunately in my case - far more flexibility. Making the change wasn’t easy. Several recruiters refused to even consider me in this process. One recruiter in particular decided that I wouldn’t accept the salary reduction and told me this was the case. The recruiters were all wrong though.
