@Kate Thank you! I agree, feminism is about tackling gender inequality that affects women across the globe on a daily basis. It does not threaten men, it benefits them too. All men are interconnected to women who are half of our population. Elevating women to equal status as men benefits society as a whole.

@Courtney haha, you nailed it!!! Could not agree more.

@Logan GP I agree. Not only does feminism demand respect as you say, but it demands so much more than that- right to live (female infanticide is rampant in some parts of the world, and women die from domestic violence), right to safety, right to health (threated by anti-abortion laws in my country), etc... Anyone who has an issue with "feminism" thinks that 50% of the population merits denial of these basic human rights. I am so tired of the fragility of certain mothers who are not as open-minded and progressive as you are, who think that feminism is somehow going to hurt their sons. I am also a physician in the United States, and a mom of a son and daughter. Thank you for your comments and openness.

@Caroline yes, thank you! I agree.

@Flo yes, thank you! I am so sick of internalized misogyny. Even though I have a son, I am so sick of moms of sons being more concerned about how feminism "hurts their sons." What about domestic violence victims, women who are denied education across the globe, female infanticide, etc... ? Does the author not feel any sadness about this when she denounces feminism?

citizen of the universe July 11, 2022

@Guest yes, thank you!!! This misguided author doesn't know what feminism is, why it is important, and doesn't realize she has benefited from feminism (without it, she would have no jobs or voting rights).

@ingoz I agree with you, this author, Tara Kline-Kennedy, has a poor view of what day to day life is like for women in this world, and she doesn't realize she has benefited from feminism. So sad.

@Laura Truxillo Agree. So tired of the boy mom fragility laid out here, speaking as someone who is a mother to a son and daughter. Thank you for your comments.

@Lauren thank you!!!

@notafan as a woman in medicine, thank you! I am a feminist because I just want gender equality, and I am so tired of being shamed and harassed for that like it's too much to ask for. I am not a man hater, but the world we live in is not kind to women.

@Rebecca Healy thank you. I am a mom of a son and daughter, and I strongly support feminism. Some people don't get why we need feminism in this world. Maybe they should go visit a domestic violence shelter and rethink who the real victims are.  The fact that so many people on this page are "triggered" and horrified by the word feminism is very sad. We need the celebration and elevation of women more now than ever. It's a shame that men and some mothers of sons feel threatened by the concept of gender equality.

@Carla Louise Yes, thank you, I agree with you. The author does not really understand what feminism is and does not understand why it is so important for all humans.

I am a mom of a son and daughter. I am a physician, woman, wife, sister, and many more things. I find the article "'I'm a mother of 2 boys, and I can't (and won't) support feminism" written by Tara Kennedy-Kline to be absolutely, misguided, disgusting and ignorant. She has no idea what feminism is. I am so tired of the whole "boy mom fragility," the notion that a woman with sons has to be somewhat threatened by any celebration of women or elevation of women in our society. Is she completely clueless? Without feminism, I wouldn't be in medicine today. Feminists are heroes in our society. All across the world, female infanticide persists, women are denied reproductive rights, and domestic violence rates are sky high. Yet instead of using your words and energy to speak out against these horrific acts against women, you save your breath to "shield your sons from your imaginary adverse effects of feminism."  Not only do you not know what feminism is, you are doing no favors to your sons, yourself or society. As a mother of a son, I call you out on your boy mom fragility and your complacency with gender based discrimination towards women.  Go visit a domestic violence shelter and rethink who the real victims are please.
