You are definitely not alone in your experience. Mine was exactly the same. Love my son to bits but I was so ready to start back to work by the time he was 8 months just to have some intellectual stimulation and adult contact that didn’t revolve around kids. It’s so easy to feel bad for feeling this way but I think becoming a mother and going on maternity leave is such a massive life change if you’ve been working and love your job, that of course it’s not an easy adjustment for many of us. And spending so much time alone with your child (unless you’re lucky enough to have other adults regularly involved in childcare with you) is so different to how most of us are used to living before too. I’m sure this is more common than you think too - what people post on social media is of course not always a true reflection.
