This is why, as a teen, I never let anyone get with me in a dark or low lit place. I was very aware I looked different in the light.. The topic came up via people I didn't even remotely become romantic with (why anyone thinks they should randomly make comments on my looks, when it makes no difference to your relationship with them, is beyond me - thanks driving instructor... for making that unpleasant comment that never left me...).. so I certainly avoided getting close to someone i met in these places.
@mamamia-user-459038664 I'm glad you've finally have accepted yourself as you and don't think about yourself physically (seems like the least stressful way to be, that is less problematic for the self-esteem). It's a shame that other people made sure that that didn't happen for a large chunk of your life. Those partners sounded like extremely unpleasant people and i hope they're miserable in their lives these days..
