My $42 per month gym membership where I go 4 times weekly is looking like a total bargain 👌

I really hope some of these comments were in jest. Pinching your baby to make them cry? You sound like a great mum. And not being lonely while having a shower or using the toilet. For gods sake, get a dog then!

@mamamia-user-482898552 Exactly. Women are stigmatised for not wanting children, and Ellie was giving legitimate reasons why women don't want to have them. I don't think it needs a rebuttal and it's not saying child-free women are any better than mothers, just HER reasons for not having them. As a woman, I think the author needed to support this and not come back with her comebacks which further pits women against each other. Women should support other women!

I completely get this, especially if you have different financial attitudes. For example, I am a saver and have always been good with my money. I have a partner who I live with and he is not. Early last year he bought a car that he could barely afford and then changed jobs, starting a contract job so not on full time salary. He then hurt his hand and was without work for a few weeks. I was expected to cover rent and food during this time as he needed to prioritise his car payment. I was resentful as I'm all for helping him due to injury, but the fact that he had been living almost beyond his means meant he had no financial buffer and I'm just expected to help him out because 'that's what partners do'. Just made me feel irritated that because he is poor at managing money, I'm expected to bail him out. I hate the notion that just because we move in with someone, their financial problems suddenly become ours. If I were to get into another relationship after this, I think I would definitely not live with a partner again!
