I find the author's comments tip over into work life. As a gen X mum I found myself doing my work and the work of millennial women (not yet mothers) because they were so lazy and did not want to upset their work/life balance. I was supposed to finish work at 4-30 pm as a part time bank worker. The young girls used to run and hide to avoid customers so I was always late knocking off and racing to childcare so I did not get fined. My fellow workers never understood why I hated them
@lisaskeeter I agree with you. My mum used stand there with a scotch in one hand and a ciggie in the other telling us what she went without to feed and clothe us. Our retort was we didn't ask to be born. I desperately wanted to be a ballerina and I constantly walked around on my toes barefoot. When I finally got to ride my bike to lessons she would not buy me ballet shoes because I was too fat. Every night our father stood over us with a belt while we ate a massive plate of food, choking on our tears. I think Idid over compensate a bit with my kids. My mother used to tell me I didn't have time to take my daughter to dance on Saturday morning because I should have been home cleaning the house
