Want to know more about foster parenting?

Australian children’s agency OzChild was established in 1861 and provides continuous service to children and families in Victoria. In recent years the number of foster carers in Victoria has dropped significantly in stark contrast to the rise in the number of young people needing foster care.

“To get the message out that Australia needs more foster carers, OzChild has developed a new online resource of information about foster parenting that provides people with the means to identify either themselves or family and friends as good candidates. Fosterparenting.org.au is just one tool being used to help dispel the myths about foster parenting and to encourage Melbournians to provide support for those in need,” said Tony Pitman, Chief Executive Officer of OzChild.

OzChild’s new online hub www.fosterparenting.org.au is a free online source of information for foster parenting in Australia. Fosterparenting.org.au aims to promote the diversity of people who can be foster parents and provides users with the opportunity to share information about foster parenting with friends online.

OzChild works to protect the rights of children. We work with all children, including some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged; children who have been abused and neglected and who are disadvantaged and disabled. We protect, nurture, educate and advocate on behalf of these children.
