It's not often that Facebook changes something that actually makes us celebrate.

It’s not often that Facebook changes something that actually makes us celebrate.

But that’s what we’re doing after this new addition was added to News Feeds everywhere.

In a move that brings the website ever closer to burgeoning social platform Reddit, Facebook has created a ‘save’ button that allows users to save content directly to their Facebook account, so they can check it out at a later time.

This could be links, places, movies, TV or music.

Nifty, right?

The new feature allows you to save links, places (though… why?), and movies, TV and music.

While Facebook users pretty much universally seem to think that changes to the social networking site’s system are confusing and unnecessary, this new function has so far not been met with rage and threats of ‘I’m quitting Facebook!’

Perhaps because it seems genuinely useful. So how does it work?

Okay, you know that little triangle thing in the right-hand-corner of every Facebook post?

That little thing in the top-right corner.

Click that and you will now get the option to save the post. It then gets added to its own feed, and can be accessed at a later point — with Facebook occasionally reminding you through your News Feed that it’s there.

As with all Facebook changes it will take some time to roll it out across all user accounts. According to the website the new Facebook tool will be available to everyone on iOS, Android and the web in the coming days.

Useful or unnecessary? What do you think of the new Facebook feature?
