“To everyone that “LOL’d”, shared, and posted that meme, let me start by introducing you to the child you find so funny. His name is Jameson.”
This is Jameson.
He is four-years-old. He is sweet and funny and likes to play with his brothers. He attends kindergarten and “helps” his mother around the house.
(You know, the way that four year olds tend to do..)
He thrown tantrums and gets up to mischief. He is just like any other four-year-old you know.
Except that because Jameson might look a little different to other four-year-olds he has been subjected to unbelievable cruelty. His image turned into a meme – a meme comparing him to pug dogs.
A meme shared and liked, laughed at and cruelly exploited by thousands and thousands of social media users.
But Jameson’s mother has had enough and has bravely taken a stand again those sharing the image and the social media companies allowing it to happen.
Jameson’s mother AliceAnn Meyer, from Texas in the US, posted the picture of Jameson with chocolate and marshmallows around his mouth on her blog in 2014. It became the feature of a widely shared a post but Ms Meyer recently discovered her picture had also been taken by internet trolls and turned into the meme.
Jameson, who is now four-years-old, has Pfieffer syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects around one in 100,000 people. The disorder means the bones of the skull become fused too early. It can lead to developmental and neurological problems, as well as problems with the nervous system, sight and hearing.
At just four Jameson has had tubes placed in his ears and soft palate reconstruction to help his breathing at night – he has a CPAP machine he sleeps in and hours upon hours of occupational therapy and speech therapy.
When Ms Meyer’s discovered the cruel meme she was taken aback.
“Someone, somewhere, decided for who knows what reason, to take that picture and create a meme comparing my son to a pug. What compels a person to do such a thing I will never understand. There is no way for me to know who did this, but for every post and share of this meme I will do everything in my power to get it taken down,” she wrote in a powerful blog post about her single minded intent to stop the trolls.

Excellent example of why you should not post pictures of your children on the internet. We are supposed to protect them. Placing images of your children for public viewing is dangerous and irresponsible and is not done for the child's benefi but the parents.
My heart just melted looking at him, what a beautiful kid and clearly so loved by his family.
