'The overnight mask that fixed my dry, cracked lips that I wish I knew about before my wedding day.'

For as long as I can remember, my lips have resembled a dry, cracked riverbed. Which, let me tell you, hasn’t been particularly attractive or confidence boosting.

But no matter what I did, or used, nothing ever seemed to help.

ACCURATE.

For months before my wedding day, at the request of my makeup artist, I slathered my lips in vitamin facial oil morning and night (she even threatened to make me drink an entire bottle, but that's a story for a different day) to no avail.

I've drunk more water than was medically recommended after reading an article that said dry, cracked lips were most likely the result of dehydration.

"I am a dry, dry desert," I would tell myself, downing glass number 3874.

"I just need to be hydrated."

I've applied layers upon layers of different lip balms and moisturisers before bed in the hopes that I will wake up to lips that would make Angelina Jolie jealous. I've terrified delivery men after answering the door wearing sheet masks specifically designed to hydrate and moisturise my kisser.

I've scrubbed and exfoliated and even tried applying 71 lip balms at once because SURELY THAT WILL DO SOMETHING?!

LISTEN: Is it problematic to try lipstick on in store? Mamamia Out Loud's Jessie thinks yes... Post continues after audio.

Then, ten days ago, after a freak google search that may have included the words "DAMN IT FIX MY FACE", I discovered the product that would finally transform my lips from sandpaper to silk.

It's called the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, and while it might seem pricey at AU$35, it's the only thing that's ever, really truly worked.

A LIL POT OF MIRACLES.

The concept is simple: apply generously on lips using the supplied rubber-tip applicator before heading to sleep and... that's it.

Excess product can be gently wiped away in the morning (although, if you're like me with lips that are dryer than the Sahara, that won't be necessary).

According to the Korean beauty brand's website, the Lip Sleeping Mask is "enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants" and also contains hyaluronic acid and minerals that will gently slough away dead skin cells from the lips.

Gratuitous selfie because #smooth.

YUM.

The product also contains a blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts which gives it the added bonus of smelling like a ridiculously delicious frozen yoghurt.

While I bought my little pot of lip genius from Sephora in the US (I live in New York City, and sadly, the product isn't available in Australian Sephora oulets), the Lip Mask can be purchased online from many reliable beauty retailers.

Ten days (or nights, rather) in and my lips are more kissable than ever. Plus, any lippy I apply goes and stays on like a dream and doesn't turn my mouth in a dry and cakey mess.

If all you want for Christmas is a smooth, soft pout, then pop this on your wish list, stat.
