The way Kim Kardashian made $10 million in one day makes us want to scream.

This is Kim Kardashian. You may have heard of her.

Her family has starred in an educational television documentary series for more than a decade. I’m pretty sure it’s narrated by David Attenborough. Remind me to Google that later.

Anyway, the 37-year-old – who just let slip that the baby she is expecting via surrogate is a girl – added a casual $10 million to her bank account, according to TMZ.

That’s because the beauty maven launched the first three perfumes under her own brand, KKW Fragrance.

But here’s the catch: not a single customer has even caught a whiff of the fragrances before hitting ‘add to cart’.

Customers had to rely on the fragrance notes listed on the website, with the scents being described as “voluptuous, lush and feminine”, “smooth, rich and luxurious” and “bright and fresh”.

Informative, no?

The three perfumes – Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Oud and Crystal Gardenia Citrus – became available for purchase online Wednesday morning, US time, with only 300,000 bottles produced. It’s rumoured Kim made $1 million in sales in the first hour alone.

Bottles sell for US$35 or US$60, depending on size, and when all 300,000 are sold, it’s estimated Kim will have banked $14 million.

Kim’s sales were spurred along by a clever social media campaign, which saw her teasing the fragrances and their release to her 104 million followers for weeks.

Kim, and her family, of course, are no strangers to re-defining the beauty industry: Kim’s debut cosmetics collection sold out within minutes, and sister Kylie’s cosmetics company is said to have made US$420 million in the two years since its launch.

It seems making millions is all in a day’s work for the Kardashian Klan.
