Studies show only 10% of people sleep in the nude, and this is surprising especially with all the wonderful benefits that come along with sleeping in the buff.
If the thought of sleeping in the nude isn’t appealing to you, here are 7 reasons that will have you convinced…
1. It could help you tone up.
Wearing clothing in bed keeps your body warmer, which prevents the growth hormone from being released. This is a disadvantage for several reasons.
“You need optimal levels of growth hormone to repair all tissues in the body and also to burn fat. Healthy growth hormone production also benefits your immune system, and lowers your risk of diabetes and heart disease,” explains strength coach Charles R Poliquin.
The growth hormone also promotes bone density, builds muscle, promotes healthy weight and stimulate the growth of internal organs, so it's a bit of an all-rounder.
On top of this, sleeping nude reduces your levels of the hormone cortisol. According to Poliquin, if your body produces less cortisol while you sleep, it's going to produce more during the day — which is a big plus, because it's very effective during a workout. He adds that cortisol levels also impact your testosterone levels.

"If you make too much cortisol, you are limiting your testosterone production. The consequences being that building muscle and burning fat becomes harder," Poliquin writes. (Post continues after gallery.)
