Deploy the selfie stick, you can now make more space on your iPhone.

It’s a tale as old as time. Girl goes to take a selfie on her iPhone and is faced with a crushing blow: her phone has run out of storage space.

For those of us with phones that only have a capacity of 16GB, it’s a daily struggle experienced in front of bathroom mirrors the country over.

Luckily, the internet has gifted us with a handy little trick that will let you free up more storage so you won’t be forced to delete your beloved Candy Crush app.

Reddit user eavesdroppingyou - who yes, has one of those dreaded 16GB iPhones - has shared his tip for creating more storage space.

"Just go to iTunes and search for the movie (with a bigger file size than what you have left on storage), click rent and soon you'll get the message saying  you don't have enough storage and offers you to go to settings," he writes.

Titanic will probably be long enough. Your data will go on.

Once you're in settings, you'll "magically" get some storage back. The Reddit user suspects your phone will automatically erase some useless data to try and download the movie, but we suspect tiny elves are secretly messing around in your phone trying to free up space.

You can then repeat the process four or five times to recover up to 2GB of space. And BuzzFeed have road tested the method with success.

It just goes to show, dreams really do come true.

Speaking of phones, what was the last text message you sent to your partner?
