Ed Sheeran was given a huge award at Buckingham Palace and we have a royal wedding theory.

Ed Sheeran was today awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to music and charity.

He met Prince Charles and told him his grandfather was a fan of the monarchy.

None of this is important, however – except for the fact he’s now in with the royals. Because, when Sheeran was leaving Buckingham Palace, he was asked a crucial question by one genius journalist.

Namely, would he perform the First Dance at the upcoming and much-anticipated wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

“Yeah, why not,” the 26-year-old responded, the BBC reports.

Just when we thought we’d reached peak-Royal-wedding excitement.

A small, minor, extremely tiny detail, however… He hasn’t been asked.

That’s why we’re presenting the unbeatable, undeniable, jury-swaying case for Ed Sheeran to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

Please, do your best to share it until it reaches Buckingham palace. It requires Meghan and Harry’s urgent attention and, really is, for the sake of us all.

1. Willingness.

Number one, he said ‘yes’.

2. He’s the people’s choice.

Sheeran’s 2014 song Thinking Out Loud topped Spotify’s list of ‘50 Best First Dance Songs‘ in 2016.

Another of his hits, Kiss Me, also came in at number 38.

This was before the release of his 2017 album Divide and what more do you need? Sheeran’s an authority in the area, and he provides options.

3. World domination.

Sheeran has recently partnered with Beyonce in the re-release of his song Perfect.

It’s expected to top charts around the world. And, oh, if they both performed at the royal wedding, well the whole universe might just explode.

There’d be two queens, and everything.

4. Proven experience.

Number four, he’s done it before. (See, we even have a rhyme thing happening. The stars are aligned.)

In 2015, Sheeran surprised Sydney couple Matt and Kya Debono and performed Thinking Out Loud live at their wedding.

The pair had been through a tough few years and were gifted the ‘wedding of their dreams’ by Kyle and Jackie O. They weren’t expecting Sheeran, however, and his appearance was magical.

The take away? He’s experienced in these things.

5. Well…

Number five… He’s Ed-bloody-Sheeran and who could resist?

Try and argue with us, just try.
