The company that makes quirky scents inspired by experiences. Pizza perfume, anyone?

From the smell of the house you grew up in, to the flowers in your childhood neighbourhood, to an amazing meal you had on an overseas trip, smells can trigger specific moments in time.

And no company knows this quite like Demeter. The mission of the Demeter Fragrance Library is to expand the use of fragrance, each day, everywhere. And they now have over 250 different fragrances, inspired by everyday objects and experiences.

Everything from Pizza (yes, pizza!) to Rain (probably one of the most popular scents in the world), they bottle up the beautiful smells that surround us all the time. We try out seven of the unusual fragrances the company are known for….

Salt Air

If you can’t get away for a holiday anytime soon, then this one might pick you up. This is really the ocean air in a bottle. It smells exactly like salty, beach goodness. It is really relaxing, subtle, and so fresh. I love this scent. And if you are hanging out for warmer weather and beach time, I bet you will too.

New Baby

It really does smell just like a new baby....nothing beats it. (Image via Demeter.)

Yes. Really. You can get the scent of a new baby in a bottle. This fragrance took Demeter 15 years to bring to market, and it is well worth the wait. It smells bright, creamy and clean, and like, a, erm, new baby, of course.

This is also one of Demeter’s linear perfumes, meaning that the scent doesn’t change over time, what you spray on is what you get. So. Good.

Pizza

Pizza shapes anyone? YUM. (Image via Demeter.)

Demeter stretched their boundaries with Pizza, it smells exactly like tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, a touch of oregano – perfectly balanced for the adventurous. It is like pizza shapes in a bottle, and while we probably wouldn't wear this one in our every day lives (we don't want to make people hungry) it smells good enough to eat. But probably don’t. Just spray.
