There’s nothing that takes up residence on your face quite like a sleepless night.
From dark circles to redness and irritation, it can be hard to look like you’ve had eight hours sleep after you’ve spent the night tossing and turning, or a looming work deadline has kept you from your pillow. Not to mention those later-than-expected nights out that take their toll (yep, we’ve all had them).
To help you out, here are seven tips and tricks that will freshen up your face and help your tired soul make it through the day.
1. Eye masks make all the difference.
If you’re facing a long workday after a run of sleepless nights, popping on some eye patches while you go about your normal morning routine is a soothing way to get some instant relief. Just ask the likes of Kim Kardashian or Chrissy Teigen, who both work long hours, look after their broods of children and always have to be camera-ready.
Kim favours eye patches infused with retinol, collagen, aloe, and hyaluronic acid to thicken the under-eye area and disguise discolouration. While Chrissy is a fan of patches with a combination of vitamins B3 and E, and pro-vitamin B5 that work together to hydrate the eye area.
2. Use eye drops to clear away the redness.
There’s not a lot of point slathering make-up over tired eyes when your eyes themselves look a little bloodshot.
There are specific eye drops out there that can help reduce the visual appearance of blood vessels by removing the redness and brightening up your eyes.
Keep some drops, such as Murine Clear Eyes, at the ready and just squeeze one or two drops into each eye up to four times a day.
These drops will take the redness out of your tired eyes for up to eight hours. It’s particularly good if you’ve been out partying and need to look like you haven’t the next day.
