The New York Times are calling it. The ultimate low maintenance haircut you’ll ever sport is officially having a moment.

Bucking the ‘three’s a trend’ rule, the article cites Gisele Bunchen’s latest Balenciaga campaign and Charlize Theron’s close shave in the new Mad Max trailer as arbiters of the buzzcut trend.

Vanessa Friedman, Fashion Director & Chief Fashion Critic of The New York Times, says that Gisele and Charlize “will prove so influential in the fashion consciousness that coming issues of magazines will be full of similarly inspired shoots.”

And as we know from the seminal fashion film, The Devil Wears Prada, this will trickle down to us regular folk, and we’ll soon be sporting shaved heads with our cerulean blue sweaters. Or something.

If you came of age in the 90s, you may remember flirting with the idea of shaving your head back when Demi Moore was the ultimate badass in G.I Jane and anti-heroine Tank Girl was THE coolest.

Celebrities like Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Natalie Dormer and Alice Dellal have been partially committing to the look with a side-shaved head, but ironically to go the full romper stomper you need to be VERY genetically blessed. If us regular folks tried it, we’d look like we’d just done every drug in the world (a la Britney Spears in 2007),  Natalie Portman on the other hand…
