Australian actress Caitlin Stasey has made no secret of the fact that she is very unhappy with Donald Trump being named the President-elect.
Since the news was announced earlier this week, Stasey’s Instagram has been flooded with emotional posts calling Trump “hateful”, “stupid” and labelling those who voted for him “frightened children”.
Now, 26-year-old Stasey has revealed one of the reasons behind her angry reaction to Trump’s potential Presidency and it has a lot to do with a woman’s right to choose.
The former Neighbours star said she relied on the services of Planned Parenthood – a non-profit organisation that offers abortion services and other sexual health care, and that is now under threat thanks to the election result – when she became pregnant at 22.
"When I was 22 I fell pregnant. I was terrified and alone in a city without my family or a partner to support me," she wrote in a post.
"Luckily I was in California (and a five minute drive from my closest PP) one of the remaining states that allows a woman to have agency over her own body. It was scary, it was sad, it was eye opening but above all it was made easy for me.

I don't understand how people still think anti abortion laws = less abortions. It's been demonstrated over and over that it doesn't work like that. I am pro choice. I am also anti abortion. I would love to see no more abortions. I just don't think the way to do that is by controlling women's bodies or punishing them. There needs to be better sex education, more accessible birth control, making sex less shameful, better options for women. The most effective way to prevent abortion is to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
