What your birth order really says about you.

Sorry, only children.

You only need to take short look around at your siblings to realise they probably have a distinctly different personality to you.

There’s one big reason for it: Your birth order.

Since the 1970s, thousands of scientific studies have been conducted into birth order. While physiologists disagree how much your birth order plays in development, it’s undeniable that there are some common traits between oldest, youngest and middle siblings.

The most common conclusion for why this happens is because children adapt different strategies to gain their parents’ attention. This theory suggests that oldest children are more likely to identify with authority while younger children are more likely to seek attention by rebelling.

Parents also often change their parenting style from the youngest to the oldest. They tend to be more lenient once they’ve become comfortable in their role and have gone through the process of raising a child at least once.

Are you the oldest, youngest or middle sibling? Do you agree with these traits?
