We can smell your cynicism from here. ‘A BB Cream for nails, really?’
But Orly’s new BB Cream nail polish actually sounds like a genius idea.
Blemish Balms – BB Creams – do the work of four or five products in one: moisturiser, sunscreen, primer, concealer and foundation. And now, Orly have applied the same multi-tasking principle to nail polish.
Orly’s BB Crème All-in-One Topical Cosmetic Treatment, $27, contains Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C to prime, brighten and smooth nails.
It’s not intended to be used as a basecoat or topcoat. Worn alone will give nails a pearlescent ‘natural glow’. The theory is that the BB Cream will help improve overall nail texture, health and brightness, so that they look great sans nail polish.
Orly recommends applying two coats to bare nails to hydrate and protect them from UV rays, which – oh god- ages the nail bed. Dammit. Here’s us thinking it was safe to neglectthis area of our beauty routine. Guess not.
The BB Cream nail polish will be available from August in the US and UK, and according to Orly’s PR here it may hit our shores before the end of 2014.
We can’t help thinking what’s next, CC Cream for nails? Well, Cuticle Cream does have a ring to it…
