1. Adrian Bayley has been sentenced for attacks on three women.

Adrian Bayley, the violent criminal who raped and killed 29-year-old Melbourne woman Jill Meagher, has been sentenced over the rapes of three other women he attacked while on bail and parole.

Bayley’s prison term was extended by 10 years.

Adrian Bayley‘s non-parole period is now 43 years. He’ll be 86 before he’s eligible for parole, ABC News reports.

Earlier this week, Bayley’s barrister Saul Holt conceded his client was unlikely to leave jail alive.

“It will essentially be life without parole in any event,” he said.

Two of the rapes occurred in the months before Ms Meagher’s murder in September 2012.

2. 103-year-old twins die within weeks of each other.

Twins Florence Davies and Glenys Thomas, 103, have died within weeks of each other in the UK.

Thomas passed away on Thursday, April 23, just 27 days before Davies, who died on Wednesday, May 20, according to ABC News in the US.

“It was a huge privilege for all of us at Abermill to care for two such wonderful ladies,” said Christine Tipper, the deputy manager at the sister’s care home. “They both made such a positive impact on the life at the home and will be hugely missed by all of us here and by their family and friends.”

The twin sisters reportedly had five children, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren between them.

3. ‘Muck-up day’ prank sees thousands of bugs vaccumed up.

An end-of-year prank in the US has seen thousands and thousands of ladybugs vaccumed up.

Seven students at Chopticon high school in Maryland have been questioned by police in connection with prank that saw their high school flooded with about 72,000 of the little spotted insects.

The insects were set free to cover the hallways as part of a tradition that sees school-leavers cause mild destruction to their school with pranks.

A staff member at the school said the insects had to be vacuumed through the day, while a schoolteacher told the Washington Post that that some members of the school community“felt bad for the bugs”.

4. A Kenyan lawyer has offered a ‘bride price’ for Malia Obama.

A lawyer in Kenya has offered to marry Barack Obama’s 16-year-old daughter Malia — for a “bride price” equivalent to up to US$90,000.

Felix Kiprono told a Nairobi newspaper he would offer the Obama family 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats for Malia’s hand in marriage, according to CNN.

“People might say I am after the family’s money, which is not the case. My love is real,” the lawyer said.

He added that he had been interested in Malia since she was just nine years old.

5. Taxi driver found guilty of attacking profoundly deaf girl.

A taxi driver has been found guilty of sexually and indecently assaulting a profoundly deaf schoolgirl in Sydney’s west.

ABC News reports Osman Chamseddine, 64, assaulted the girl when she was just 10 and 11 years old in 2009, after being contacted to drive her to her special needs school.

A jury found the man guilty of four counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a person between the ages of 10 and 14, as well as two counts of indecently assaulting a person under 16.

6. Transgender model Hari Nef has been signed by a top modelling agency.

Major international modelling agency IMG has signed transgender model Hari Nef, 22, to its books.

“I can’t verbalise how thrilled I am to be joining the @imgmodelsfamily,” Nef announced on Instagram.

The agency counts Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid on its books, according to The Guardian.

Nef is actually IMG’s second transgender model, but she’s the only one signed globally; the first was Valentijn De Hingh, who is represented only by the Paris branch.
