STYLE: 7 things Instagram made me buy.

You may have heard of Instagram, that photo-sharing app responsible for the rise of selfies and food as porn. It may seem like harmless fun but folks I’m here to tell you a community service announcement: It’s Dangerous.

It’s dangerous not because you can’t avoid ironic hot dog legs photos or envy-inducing yachting holiday snaps but because it makes you buy things. And want to buy ALL of the things.

The last, lets say, ‘seven’ (husband if you’re reading this) things I’ve bought or wanted to buy have not come from inside the pages of glossy magazines but from my Instagram feed, I’ll take you through them.

1. BCBG SHORTS.

This is where it all began a year ago. I don’t know who Laura Kelly is, I followed her going down some media follow rabbit hole and all I know is she has an amazing wardrobe and incredible pins.

See those shorts? Look down in the last centimetre of the shot, that one centimetre was enough to convince me that I needed these. Luckily enough, someone else did the asking to which Kelly replied they were from BCBG. The downside was she got them in the summer sales in New York. Never one to turn down a fashion challenge, I tracked these babies down, oh and I did mention it was winter in Australia at that point?

2. SEED LEOPARD ESPADRILLES.

I can say that I do ‘know’ this Instagram user, I met Liz from Somewear at a media junket last year. I don’t know if that makes wardrobe stalking her any better though.

3. TRIANGL BIKINI.

I’m going to squarely blame Nat Hawk, Mamamia’s fitness writer for this one. She flashed this stunning metallic wetsuit bikini picture in front of my face, and we both ooh’ed and ahh’ed. I confirmed that she should definitely buy it and then several days later I decided I also needed it. Word travelled around the Mamamia office and now four of us own Triangl bikinis.

4. CATBIRD NY RINGS.

After stalking Etsy for the perfect fine silver and rose gold rings, I stumbled across CatbirdNY’s Instagram account and haven’t looked back.

5. ZARA SHOES.

This one is from my own account because I can’t remember which account I first saw these babies, but when I popped into Zara last week and saw them sitting on the shelf under some strewn knitwear (it was after the lunchtime rush) I immediately snapped them up.

6. CLINIQUE LIPSTICK.

If you don’t follow former Mamamia beauty guru, ZoTheySay, go and do it now. If not for her amaze beauty advice, do it for pictures of her adorable cat Meowbert. Oh and the lipstick shade? It’s Runway Coral. And no I didn’t need another coral lipstick in my life.

 7. MANIAMANIA RING.

I’ve also spotted these, which I plan on buying one day, you know – in that imaginary world where money is no object.
