This morning, a man named David Spencer was seen by several witnesses at Central Station at approximately 8:43am, scrolling through his phone as he alighted the train.
With no warning, his Facebook feed alerted him that today, the 8th of March, is International Women’s Day.
Spencer was overheard scoffing in the direction of no one in particular, “Pfft – why the hell do we need an International Women’s Day? I’m not sexist.”
Indeed, Spencer has a “soft spot” for women.
Research reveals that his mother was, and continues to be a woman. His grandmother was a female too, and Spencer liked her very much. He married a woman, who he sleeps in the same bed as every night. Spencer is a father to two daughters, who he loves more than anything in the world.
As onlookers considered Spencer’s remark, the tide began to change.
The Mamamia Out Loud team explain why we don’t need International Men’s Day. Post continues below.
One 22-year-old woman was heard muttering to herself, “He’s right… it’s 2017. I can do whatever I like.”
A 41-year-old man nodded vigorously in agreement, and a group of high school children started a slow clap.
You see, what we’re all so afraid to say is that; Spencer is right.
Why would the world Spencer lives in, in a country where we had a female Prime Minister that one time, and in a state where women got the vote more than a century ago, still need a goddamn International Women’s Day?

Does this guy even exist? Because how would you even know the name of a stranger?
I'm a woman.
Quite frankly, I don't care if there's a woman's day or not. With or without, it will not change how I perceive myself or the contributions I make to the world. But then again, I don't need the validation of others, though some do.
Personally, I'm sick of hearing women complain, I'm sick of them marching, I'm sick of them littering like pigs WHEN they march, dropping their signs on the ground, but most of all I'm sick of the control grab they're making. Feminism did amazing things in the beginning, now, feminists run around in the street half naked or wearing a dress emblazoned with the world abortion or my favorite, tying hijabs out of American flags on their heads..."in solidarity". Yet, they take that faux-jab off right after the march.
I'm tired of the moaning & groaning. I'd take it more seriously if it were less ME ME ME & more what can I do to help truly disenfranchised women in the world...you know, like the woman who risks death by removing her hijab. They see American women donning one, they think your idiots too.
Feminism today is less about activism & helping our gender & more about control & exercising it. There's another group that uses control to dictate behavior, though much more violent. What's funny & notable is that feminists never criticize this group, no matter how many women they kill, rape, assault, they conveniently try to gloss over it. This practice & the eerie similarities between the 2 is enough for me to say no thanks.
