This actually happened. She went to the toilet and had a baby.

For anyone that’s had a baby this seems unimaginable. You just keep asking yourself – how could she NOT know?

Surely this is impossible.

But it is true – a woman in the UK has given birth to a baby boy not ever suspecting she was pregnant.

Gaynor Rzepka, a twenty-five year old supermarket worker from Wales, has gone to the bathroom during the night in her parents home with a bit of a tummy ache -only to give birth.

The South Wales Evening Post writes that the young mother got the shock of her life – now that’s surely an understatement!

She says that she never even considered that she was pregnant.

The supermarket worker said she had been lugging potatoes all day and had suffered a pain in her side.

She visited the bathroom several times overnight but dismissed the pain as nothing to worry about. Finally at 5am she felt herself pushing.

Gaynor told the Evening Post: “I caught the baby before he went into the toilet. – I was really shocked and burst into tears.”

Her mother, upon hearing the baby’s cry, ran to the toilet where she found her new grandson and his stunned mother.

The new Grandmother told the Daily Mail that her maternal instinct kicked in when she saw the scene in her bathroom.

“I put my arms out, took the baby and wrapped it in a towel. Then helped sit her down and wrap her up. She was quite white as she had gone into shock.”

Gaynor says she couldn’t even speak after the birth and was frozen repeating “oh god oh god” over and over again.

But there was one more person who needed to know the news of baby Olly – his unknowing Dad – but Gaynor says that she was too scared to do the job herself.

She told the Evening Post “I thought, oh my God, he will kill me, so I said to my mum to ring him.”

Her partner, Paul– a 25-year old bar manager was just as shocked – but is now ‘over the moon.’

The 2.9 kg baby and his mother were transferred to hospital and then released the next day.

Bizarrely Gaynor says she had no symptoms at all during her pregnancy. Her periods were regular and she only put on about 6 or so kilograms, which she attributed to over-eating at Christmas.

She even ran a marathon when she was about 5 months pregnant.

She told the Daily Mail that looking back the only giveaway was a sudden fondness for Mars Bars when she usually hated them.

The new Mum is now hoping to make a life for herself and her partner who works in another part of the country.

She is busy adjusting to life as a surprise mother – from a mad dash organising her baby’s clothing and accessories- to letting her friends and colleagues know that she was now a mother.
