'I tried the personalised chemical peel treatment everywhere on TikTok. Here's my honest verdict.'

Dermalogica
Thanks to our brand partner, Dermalogica

My skin hasn't been this complicated in a long time.

Usually, I'm a combo-oily girl – my skin loves a gel cleanser, matte makeup products and blotting pads for when that 3pm shine comes through.

But recently, it's been all. Over. The. Place.

I'm breaking out constantly. I'm oily across my T-zone. I'm also super dry (???).

The best part about the PRO Power Peel is the fact its personalised. So, no matter your skin type or concern, there's a variation of the treatment that will suit you.

Here's everything you need to know about the popular treatment, including my honest review. And you bet, I took photos documenting the entire process.

What is a Dermalogica PRO Power Peel treatment?

As Dermalogica was founded by a skin therapist, the brand really knows how to create custom skincare solutions that seriously work. PRO Power Peel is one of their advanced treatments and is one of their strongest and fastest chemical peels.

The unique fully customisable three-acid approach provides deep exfoliation and resurfacing that is 100 per cent personalised to your skin.

Plus, it's ideal for a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, dryness, uneven pigmentation, and breakouts (hello, me).

What skin type is the PRO Power Peel suited for, and what are the benefits?

The best part about the PRO Power Peel if the fact its personalised, so no matter your skin type or concern, there's a variation of the treatment that will suit you.

Before your peel, you will have a consultation with a Dermalogica Professional Skin Therapist and you will discuss your skin and lifestyle – exercise, stress, your skincare routine and current concerns.

They will then tailor your PRO Power Peel treatment to you – for your skin goals.

A treatment for adult acne will use salicylic acid, mandelic acid and malic acid to target blemishes, hyperpigmentation and redness, as well as helping to reduce oiliness and sebum production.

A treatment for uneven skin tone will use lactic acid complexed with phytic acid and mucor fungal extract to brighten and target hyperpigmentation.

And a treatment for signs of skin ageing will use glycolic acid, phytic acid and prickly pear extract to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation whilst minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Where can you get a PRO Power Peel treatment?

Dermalogica is the home of the PRO Power Peel – to find a store or stockist that offers the treatment, it's as simple as jumping on their website, and finding the closest clinic to you.

A single 30-minute treatment costs $100, while a 60-minute treatment costs $180.

My honest review of the Dermalogica PRO Power Peel treatment.

When I arrived for my PRO Power Peel treatment I was makeup-free and a little embarrassed about the state of my skin.

I'm currently stressed (but aren't we all?), eating out more than usual and exercising less. My breakouts are red, sore and also dry.

I'm at a point where my skincare needs an overhaul and I need direction.

Upon arriving at the Dermalogica flagship store in Crows Nest, I was given a form to fill out with my current skin concern, skincare routine and what I'd like to address during the treatment.

I then met with Professional Skin Therapist, Skye who would be doing my 60-minute PRO Power Peel treatment.

After getting changed into the gown and getting comfortable on the bed (which really feels like a bed – they wrap you up in a blanket and all), she started out with a massage.

I could choose between a scalp massage or chest, neck and shoulders, and I went with the latter. (I'm tense!)

It was pure bliss and relaxed me completely before the peel.

Skye started the peel by cleansing my skin. She went in with Dermalogica products to make sure my skin was both clean and hydrated ahead of the acids.

Then, one layer of the Ultra Bright peel was applied to my skin, and then spot treated with the Power Clear peel which was applied on my spots to improve the appearance of my breakouts.

They felt tingly on the skin but subsided after a while and didn't feel bad – that's the product working!

After applying the peels, we moved onto the deep treatment, using Pro Restore (another acid) to reduce downtime, and then layered on a really refreshing mask to cool and hydrate my skin before LED light therapy.

Finally, my skin was placed under a LED light for 20 minutes, and used blue light to help with my acne.

Following the treatment, I immediately saw a difference in my skin. As Skye explained, my skin isn't dry, it's dehydrated.

To fix that, I needed to focus on cleansing once in the morning and twice at night (first to remove the day's makeup, oil and debris, second to actually clean) and moisturise.

After getting dressed, I met my Dermalogica therapist out the front and we talked through what products would be best to use after. She recommended Dermalogica PreCleanse to remove makeup, Special Cleansing Gel, and Daily Microfoliant (their gentle scrub) every second day.

Since my skin hasn't been balanced lately, she gave me staple products she knew would get it back to normal.

She recommended returning in two weeks for a second PRO Power Peel, where she would, again, customise the treatment to my skin then and further renew and refresh it.

My mum has been using Dermalogica since I was a kid, so when I was offered the treatment I knew it would do wonders for my skin. Now, having had the treatment, that's been confirmed.

My skin already looks bouncier and happier and I know those breakouts will disappear if I continue doing what my Dermalogica therapist recommends.

And you bet, I'll be coming to see you in two weeks.
