Peppa Pig's sweary secret

This little pig went to the naughty corner… A mum complains after insisting Peppa taught her daughter how to swear.

A furious mother has lodged a complaint against the popular TV show Peppa Pig, believing the animated piglet has introduced some unsavoury new words to her toddler’s vocabulary. Uh oh.

Natalie Cox of Cardiff, Wales, was shocked to hear her2-year-old daughter Kiannah repetitively say the phrase “f–king gazelles” after watching an episode of the show.

“I couldn’t believe my ears. She kept saying it over and over … I don’t know if someone making the DVD thought it was funny – but how on earth did it get past the show’s editors and producers?” Natalie Cox told Wales News Service.

As it turns out, Peppa and her pals, including Daddy Rabbit, had actually been discussing a band called The Rocking Gazelles, which Madame Gazelle used to be a part of. Watch the clip here:

Hmm – perhaps to a Welsh toddler’s ears that does sound like the F word, but it’s definitely “rocking” to us. Regardless, a spokesperson for the show, probably stifling a giggle at the time, has responded to the complaint, saying “any misunderstanding is unintentional”.

It’s not the first time poor ol’ Peppa Pig has found herself in the headlines. Last year, the feisty swine and her band of mates were accused of spreading a “weird feminist line”, and parents have previously complained that she promotes bratty behaviour like backchatting and jumping in puddles.

Looks like little Peppa is quite the provocateur. We wonder what she’ll do next?
