Know nine children? One of them is living in a jobless family. Here's how you can help.

Taking only two and a half minutes of time, David and The Big Heavy touches, enlightens and informs, and is based on a real life case study. It is staggering to learn that over 638,000 children live in jobless families in Australia today. That is one in every ten.

Noting Nelson Mandela’s words quoted at the end of the film — “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” — to assist in raising awareness of disadvantage in Australia a ‘Tales of the One in Ten’ Study Guide is being produced and will be distributed by ATOM to all schools in Australia.

Your assistance in raising awareness through media and social media is greatly appreciated.

The One in Ten campaign aims to raise awareness for disadvantaged Australian kids. There are over 638,000 in Australian that have to deal with some tough issues due to difficult financial circumstances – this is a large but also unknown group in Australia so we are attempting to shine the spotlight on them to get people thinking how they can make a difference.

The website allows people to watch the film, donate and/or buy the song ‘Find the Light’ with funds going directly to The Smith Family. Visit the One in Ten website here.

Please share this post to share your support for the one in ten, and visit The Smith Family website to learn more about the campaign.
